Changes To Program Announced

According to John Wilson, OVJGA Director of Junior Golf, the junior golf program has been cut to 14 members for 2012 due to a number of factors; however, he has stated that this is the youngest membership (average age 14.4 years) and most talented group in the 12 year history of the program.

Members of the program are Kaitlyn Bliss (16), Hunter Bryan (14) Jacob Carpenter (17), David Coram (15), Cole Hand (14), Scott Hand (17),  Jared Jorden (13), Eli Lambie (17), Caden Myers (16), Ryan Payne (10), Taylor Shane (16),  Michael Spitak (12), Kyle Wensel (13), and Dylan Wojcik (14).  Wilson observed that every one of these 14 program members has a reasonable chance to play at the college level if they are totally dedicated, organized,  sacrifice, and work at their game as directed.  In short, their future success rests on their shoulders.

Congratulations go out to Michael Spitak (12 and under), Dylan Wojcik (13-14),  Scott Hand (15-16), and Eli Lambie (17-18) for being awarded the OVJGA Player of the Year Award in their age division.  And, finally, to Cole Hand who was awarded the overall OVJGA Junior Player of the Year Award for the second consecutive year, an unprecedented achievement.

John Wilson’s Statement To The Incoming Group

Congratulations to all 18 of you for being selected for the 2011 OVJGA Advanced Competitive Junior Golf Program.  You were selected out of approximately 250 junior players from the Ohio Valley area either because of your demonstrated dedication/potential/interest/talent or because of a determination being made that you would be developing those necessary attributes in the next year or two in order to have the necessary skills to achieve college level play.

This will be a great year of progress – the youngest and most promising assemblage we have ever had.  In reality, 90% of any success we achieve is on your shoulders.
